Are you interested in speaking at one of Philadelphia’s Girl Geek Dinners?
Great! Please fill out our Speaking Request Form to share information with us. If you’d like to speak but aren’t quite sure yet what you’d like to speak about, feel free to contact us at info[at]ggdphl[dot]com and we’ll see if we can assist you.
What types of topics are we interested in for our GGD?
That’s easy — almost anything!
The only “rule” for speakers is that the topic be something related to technology or is about encouraging women to pursue tech. We will occasionally make exceptions for presentation on creative or new media topics if they are appropriate for the audience. Your talk or presentation should be approximately 45 minutes in length and allow for 10-15 minutes of Q&A with the ladies. We requests talks not be shorter than 30 minutes or longer than 60 minutes.
Consider: Your audience will likely:
- be predominantly female
- be smart and talented folks from a technology background primarily, but we welcome our creative and new media partners in crime
- not be interest in listening to you sell your product or services (exception: sponsors and hosts)

Maggie Avener, Technical and Training Organizer | Prometheus Radio Project
Maggie Avener works with the Prometheus Radio Project where she spends her time providing technical support for community radio stations, creating how-to guides and other documentation on radio and audio engineering, and teaching hands-on soldering workshops to get people excited about radio. In the past she has also taught fluid dynamics to engineers, electronics to middle schoolers, and Linux basics to social workers. Maggie’s experience has convinced her that anyone who wants to is capable of learning about technology–and that if you take the time to explain a complicated topic in simple terms, you will learn it more thoroughly yourself in the process.
